Aqua Turf Club Wedding | Winter Wedding Photos | Amber & Rick

If rain on your wedding day is a sign of good luck, and snow is an omen for prosperity and fertility, then I think Amber and Rick are in for many years of happiness as they were married at Aqua Turf Club in CT the day following Blizzard Nemo. My feeling after spending some time with A&R is that they don’t need any luck, but the gift of snow and Nemo was a lovely one for them (as Nemo has special significance in their family). I had such a great time getting to know A&R, hearing about their visions of shooting with film cameras on their wedding day (Diana cameras with Polaroid digital backs! Love!), and connecting with them over our love of photography. You see, Amber and Rick met during art school and Amber is a professional wedding photographer herself. They wanted their day to be about celebrating their love with their closest family and friends, and they wanted photography to preserve those moments, so their kids could one day spend countless hours reminiscing through their wedding album (the way Amber has done for years with her parents and grandparents photos). I’m so honored that they asked me to celebrate with them and artistically document their wedding. Their day was filled with intricate, rustic DIY details that they intentionally dedicated a lot of time to create, and they have one of the sweetest stories behind their rings. Amber’s is custom-made including family heirloom wedding bands (the first time she saw her ring was at the altar!), and Rick’s is a unique wood inlay. Below are a few of my favorites, and the beginning of what I know will be many years filled with more smiles, tears, dancing, snowball fights, and photos!
